  • Primary Function:

    The Missions and Church Planting Pastor is a highly relational, gospel-centered, entrepreneurial leader. They will oversee and guide Living Hope’s Missions and Church Planting Ministry. They will build strong relationships with all ministry partners and create short-term mission opportunities, ensuring the church stays informed about God’s work around the world. 

    Job Classification: Permanent Full-Time (40 – 45 hours/week).

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Affirm and submit to Living Hope’s Belief and Covenantal Statements.

    • Understand and work within Living Hope’s Mission and Discipleship Pathway Framework.

    • Develop a volunteer, Missions, and LH 360 Church Planting Team to support the Director in developing and executing LH’s mission ministry.

    • Provide direct oversight of church-planting goals, including the following activities:

      • Collaborate with elders to develop a recruiting and assessment process for potential church-planting candidates and partners.

      • Develop and manage an internal leadership pipeline for church planters and core leaders as needed.

      • Collaborate with Leaders Collective, key staff, and the LH church planting team to evaluate the most effective church planting strategy for each new church or planting partner.

      • Create and follow a plant development calendar to ensure church-planting partners stay on schedule to achieve their development goals and objectives.

      • Make sure the business systems are prepared to support expected growth. 

      • Support local church planting growth goals through location research and merger inquiries as needed.

    • Regularly assess mission partnerships each year. 

    • Develop the annual mission budget. Coordinate with the accounting office to execute all ongoing and regular support payments from the mission budget.

    • Develop consistent communication with all local and international partners.

    • Develop and implement an effective congregational communication strategy, including but not limited to videos, blog posts, and articles. Consistently share how God is working through our mission and church-planting partners. 

    • Develop and oversee all LH short-term mission trip expenses and budget, including the volunteer team members' support-raising efforts.  

    • Develop local mission and service opportunities.

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for those requesting mission support. Collaborate with the volunteer LH Mission Team and operate within the approved annual budget to assess all requests. 

    • Develop and implement strategic missions training as needed.

    • Demonstrated gifting in preaching and teaching (preferred).

    Other Necessary Skills:

    • Organization and Leadership: Proactively creates an annual ministry budget and calendar. Effectively develops and utilizes volunteer ministry teams to address ongoing ministry needs and key objectives. 

    • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Capable of effectively engaging with a diverse range of people. Responds promptly to text messages, phone calls, and emails. Proactively communicates with congregations, volunteer teams, families, and new attendees. 

    • Technology: Proficient in using or learning Microsoft Office, Electronic Check-In System, CCB/Church Database, and other ministry-related systems. 

    The Missions and Church Planting Pastor will come under the spiritual authority of the elders of Living Hope and report to the Executive Pastor.
